After months of just yakking about it, my fanzine, Dynamite Hemorrhage #1, is printed and ready to ship. Those of you who’ve pre-ordered, I’m sending ‘em out today and tomorrow. Those of you who are interested in ordering – please do! Here’s what’s in it.

I really couldn’t help myself. I probably have virtually all of the tracks collected on the new 3xCD box set of “White Light/White Heat” somewhere; spread out on various bootlegs and downloads and whatnot. I wanted it anyway.

It sounds and of course looks amazing (full color book with flyers, photos and ephemera from the WL/WH version of the band) , and there are tracks that many of us, myself included, had not heard before, like an early version of “Beginning To See The Light” that John Cale plays on that’s amazing. So yeah, it’s a lot of $$ to hear new permutations of a record you’ve already played hundreds of times over a lifetime, but I have a hankerin’ that some of you are going to pull the trigger like I did anyway.

Which one of these e-magazines for your tablet is not like the other?

DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE fanzine #1 now available for iPad, Android and Kindle Fire tablets and for desktop/laptop computers, via Magzter!

There are two key advantages to reading our new fanzine this electronic way, as opposed to the print edition (which is probably still your better bet, since you can hold it in your hands, pass it around, let it “accumulate value"etc.):

  • The tablet edition is in full color throughout, not just the cover
  • The tablet edition is only $4.99, as opposed to $7 for the print edition

Hey, it’s an experiment on our end. I’m kind of blown away that Magzter even accepted it, and is retailing it next to Cosmo, BusinessWeek and so on.

YOU’VE GOT THE RUNAROUND -Dynamite Hemorrhage’s Best of 2013

I made an online mixtape over at 8tracks of 28 of my favorite things that came out in 2013. If you’ve listened at all to the podcast we put together every couple of weeks, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard many of these righteous tunes, but you might wish to hear them again, right?

I think it’s fair to say that it was a “good year” for music, as years go. This mix is ample proof.

Tim Hinely is a great American whom I’ve known for a while, though I believe we’ve only clinked glasses together a couple of times, and never since the 1990s when he lived in the SF Bay Area (if Santa Rosa counts).

Tim’s been doing DAGGER fanzine since I was a teen and perhaps even before you were born. He’s just put out issue #46. It’s good (a fairly quick newsletter-style read, but good). You can get it from him for a few stamps or even a dollar. Learn more here.
