Get a load of this excellent quick pump-action pop from PLUME, a new San Jose band made up of members of Sourpatch, Joyride! and perhaps other individuals unaffiliated with either.

They put up a demo over on Bandcamp that I wish I could recommend to you in all good conscience, but, well, there’s just the one…..

You gotta love Mike Hudson from The Pagans. The sandpaper voice that launched at least a half-dozen of the best punk songs of all time got back together with his Cleveland pals The Styrenes in 1997, and recorded this outstanding garage punk 45 well after both bands had seen any heydays  they’d presumably had. Been meaning to play this on the podcast and just haven’t gotten around to it, so I’ll play it for you here….

I’ll just say this about googly-eyed mooning over celebrities when they die: you were just as personally connected and engaged with the deceased yesterday as you will be tomorrow.

Sure it’s sad, but the death of a loved one, a person you know, or even of anonymous youth cut down in its prime is more sad. I’m already maxing out on the “oh shit oh shit I can’t take it today whatamIgonna do Lou died” faux sympathy.
