THE HEDONIST JIVE

Domain trouble! I had a hell of a time trying to hold on to the URL hedonistjive.com with something called “Google Apps”, and woke this morning to find it expired.

I’ve now migrated over 4 years’ worth of content on my other blog, THE HEDONIST JIVE, to a new URL – www.hedonist-jive.com. If you have a bookmark, please feel free to adjust it accordingly, as the other one appears to be dead as a doornail.

A modicum of praise for Los Angeles’ SIN 34 in NO MAG, circa 1982.

Sin 34 (whom the editors of Dynamite Hemorrhage have a bit of a guilty-pleasure soft spot for) were the perennial opening band on hardcore bills all over LA and the San Fernando Valley in the early 80s. Members later went on to Painted Willie; Dave Markey became an infamous underground filmmaker and was putting out We Got Power fanzine around the time of this review as well.

Not especially readable – but here’s a split interview w/ San Francisco’s ICKY BOYFRIENDS and Toronto’s LEATHER UPPERS – who shared a drummer – from the pages of Portland’s Snipehunt fanzine, a mag I’d love to find some back issues of (especially if anyone saved the “Zip Code Rapists break up” issue….). Enjoy your squinting.

A loping, strangely mid-tempo version of “Smokescreen” by THE DESPERATE BICYCLES, performed on The John Peel show back on April 7th, 1978.

Sure, it was 38 years ago – but if anyone knows how I might get in touch with a member of the ‘Bicycles, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.
