The recording of 2013’s first DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE RADIO podcast is now in the books, and it’s all ready to share with the people. This is the fourth edition of the podcast, running at about 1 hour, 15 minutes, and it will take you on a musical walkabout so mind-blowing you’ll never, ever come back. It features underground punk, pop, psych, instrumental and garage-scorch dating from about 1964 to stuff that came out a couple of weeks ago. It’s strung together just like a real radio show and everything, complete with an annoying “deejay”. Only you and I have to know that it’s totally phony, and that the guy who did it made the goddamn thing on his laptop.

Erin F./La Lengua, whom we now follow religiously on her killer Ribbon Around a Bomb online culture trove & punk rock radio show podcast, used to be a disc jockey on KCSB-FM in Santa Barbara, CA – just like me. Just 19 years apart from each other. The collection of insular radio nerds and music fanatics was her sorority, just as it was my frathouse.

She posted a misty-eyed review of her days there, along with a show you can listen to on “MySpace” (!). Check it all out here.

France’s MIL MASCARAS recently had some of their unissued material from 2001 pulled onto a posthumous 45 on Hozac Records. It’s terrific stuff, a jagged and wiry all-female post-punk/noise/garage sound that escaped release at the time.

That crime’s been rectified with this lone 45. The song’s called “Fuzz”.

One of the coolest and more equanimous things I’ve ever seen done in music history was the time the LA synth/artpunk band MONITOR decided to give one track on their own album to their Arizona pals THE MEAT PUPPETS.

The result, sitting there near the end of Side 2 of the 1981 “Monitor” LP, is this track, “Hair” by the Meat Puppets. It sounds like nothing else on the record; and indeed, like nothing else in the universe. Play loud, preferably at work.
