It’s been a few weeks – how about another DYNAMITE HEMORRHAGE RADIO PODCAST, what do you say? This is the nineteenth edition (#19), and this time around I’ve got some stunning new stuff from RUBY PINS, THE AR-KAICS, SIMPLE CIRCUIT, SKINNY GIRL DIET and CONSTANT MONGREL. It’s about an hour, all told. The older material includes a lot of daffy, developmentally-delayed rocknroll this time around, including messed-up sideways punk from The Silver, The Panics, Art Phag, The Keggs and The Riptoids. Then there’s stuff from Black Flag, SPK, The Bristols, Winterbrief, and Kitchen and the Plastic Spoons, too – so maybe that’s more your thing.

Parents may find it somewhat challenging trying to explain this music to children, so please share this with the utmost in caution. There are 18 other episodes to download as well – you’ll find those all below the playlist.

Best reverential straight-up 60s punk of the 21st century? I’d find it hard to argue if you chose this new album from Richmond, VA’s THE AR-KAICS to fill that hole.

Their new and only album is terrific, a raw, overly amplified speaker blowout in the Keggs, Things To Come, Murphy & The Mob school of bent, loud garage pop music. I’m going to play it a bunch on my phony radio show/podcast, starting w/ the next episode. Download the whole thing yourself here.

RUBY PINS are a side project band of Lillian Maring, the drummer from Grass Widow. I bought her debut release a couple of days ago and it’s a first-rate jumble of fractured post-punk; big confusing guitar sounds a la Sic Alps and low-fidelity bedsit pop.

This excellent number, “My Friends Are Insane”, sounds to me like something Peter Jefferies might have laid down in New Zealand in the late 80s.

Kudos and good on yas to Ms. Maring and the creative set of pals she’s assembled for this project. You can download the thing here.

Some mp3s I’d Like To Trade You Other mp3s For

Usually it’s pretty easy for me to lay my hands on songs that I hear, even vinyl-only stuff, that I want to roast up on my own CDs and play on my mp3-only podcast. But certain songs are bedeviling, and I can’t find them anywhere.

Right now there are three that I shamelessly would love to “own”. If you happen to have mp3s of these, and would like to swap them for things that you’re looking for that I might have, please drop me a line here.

JACKKNIFE – “Come On”
THE PLAYTHINGS – “Coloured” (version from original NZ 45)
NAKED SPOTS DANCE – “Crescendo/Circle Moon”

This mix, available on Mixcloud as “…and the Maggots Dance, 1…2…3 from the Dead C’s Bruce Russell was made over two years ago on behalf of an online and terrestrial radio station and Flying Nun Records. It’s a selection of ultra-rare New Zealand small-indie label postpunk, punk and experimental rock music from the 1980s.

It’s, as Bruce says repeatedly on this nostalgia-laden, hour-long show, "phenomenal”.

He’s a terrific jockey of discs, and if anyone knows if he’s done any similar shows like this please let me know where I can hear ‘em.
