Some mp3s I’d Like To Trade You Other mp3s For

Usually it’s pretty easy for me to lay my hands on songs that I hear, even vinyl-only stuff, that I want to roast up on my own CDs and play on my mp3-only podcast. But certain songs are bedeviling, and I can’t find them anywhere.

Right now there are three that I shamelessly would love to “own”. If you happen to have mp3s of these, and would like to swap them for things that you’re looking for that I might have, please drop me a line here.

JACKKNIFE – “Come On”
THE PLAYTHINGS – “Coloured” (version from original NZ 45)
NAKED SPOTS DANCE – “Crescendo/Circle Moon”

This mix, available on Mixcloud as “…and the Maggots Dance, 1…2…3 from the Dead C’s Bruce Russell was made over two years ago on behalf of an online and terrestrial radio station and Flying Nun Records. It’s a selection of ultra-rare New Zealand small-indie label postpunk, punk and experimental rock music from the 1980s.

It’s, as Bruce says repeatedly on this nostalgia-laden, hour-long show, "phenomenal”.

He’s a terrific jockey of discs, and if anyone knows if he’s done any similar shows like this please let me know where I can hear ‘em.

I’m usually pretty good at aggressive flogging of my various exploits, but I recognize I haven’t ever collected the various links to the Dynamite Hemorrhage Radio Podcast archives and playlists in any one area. If you’re just joining us, that’s my twice-a-month (or so), hour-long rocknroll radio show, recorded direct-to-laptop and featuring the best in today’s and yesterday’s young sounds from the realms of artpunk, garage splatter, girl rock and weirdo pop. I started doing them in December of last year, and I still have the gumption to keep doing them even still. Look for another one in a week, or thereabouts.

If you’re interested in gathering eighteen hours of music, with all songs personally endorsed by me (albeit with my speaking voice present in each podcast), just click on each link to download the given show. You’ll also find links to the playlists, in case you maybe wanna see what you’re getting beforehand.

I can’t find any online evidence that “Dogshit” by ANTLER JOE & THE ACCIDENTS ever charted in any country, but this 1981 slop-punk from Fort Meyers, Florida certainly deserved likely more attention than it got.

Perhaps it was just a little too vile for the times – or maybe it was the fact that they only made 300 of their lone 45.

SUPERDOPE #5 1992 (no page #)

WINGTIP SLOAT review by SUPERDOPE editor JAY HINMAN

By now you know that Jay has made all his Superdopes available for easy download. But did you know he also helms an unbeatable podcast featuring “punks, girls, pop, garage, freaks, proto-punkers and more”? His most recent broadcast included 2013’s stellar über riot grrrl tuffs SKINNY GIRL DIET, who have a terrific new split 7” with ETHICAL DEBATING SOCIETY on Happy Happy Birthday To Me. SKINNY GIRL DIET sound as potent as anything else listed on our tumblr (listen below). Someone write a fuckinrecordreview!

Thanks for the tip Jay.

But enough about them, do you think WINGTIP SLOAT ever made their 154 or Vs.? Mail Jay at thejayhinman@gmail.com and let him know what you think.

Very kind words from Fuckin’ Record Reviews about the ‘Dope and about our latest podcast, which you can download at https://soundcloud.com/jayhinman/dynamite-hemorrhage-radio-1.

Back with yet another hour-long radio programme, recorded at home on a laptop. We call it Dynamite Hemorrhage Radio. Every few weeks I save a bunch of righteous songs I want you to hear in a file folder on my laptop, then I unleash them upon you in a logical, carefully-curated order, with spoken interludes full of important discographical information and far too much navel-gazing reminiscing to be healthy (or interesting).

This show, Dynamite Hemorrhage Radio Podcast #18, features some new releases by CONSTANT MONGREL, SKINNY GIRL DIET and the OCCASIONAL FLICKERS, as well as host of underground and obscure releases from the past forty years by The Piranhas (pictured here as they were back in 2000), Deep Wound, Detective Agency, The Wilderness Children, 8 Eyed Spy, Mondo Guano, The Coachwhips, Delmonas, Whitefronts and many more. Songs I like. Songs I want you to like.
