Agony Shorthand is a new iteration of an ancient blog put together by Jay Hinman in San Francisco, CA, back when there were “blogs”. The original 2003-2006 version is still out there somehow at https://agonyshorthand.blogspot.com.

Mostly it’s a way to do another podcast, after I up & quit my previous one (and the one before that). From 2024-2025, it was called Radio Does Screaming. From 2012-2024, it was called Dynamite Hemorrhage (and Dynamite Hemorrhage Radio) before morphing into something a little different. Now it’s this next thing. 

Lucky you, Radio Dies Screaming #1 fanzine (2024) is available from our online store, as is Dynamite Hemorrhage #10 from 2022.

Agony Shorthand is therefore the name of our semi-regular podcast that you can grab on Apple Podcasts or stream on Soundcloud or stream on Mixcloud as well. Raw, free-form, genre-bending sub-underground music from the last six decades. The podcast tackles the dark corners of DIY music, from psych to solo guitar to punk to abstract pop to folk to heavy metalloid music – and many other corners besides
